Does anyone know where I can find Home guard records online without it costing a fortune?

Hi, I don't know which area of the country you are interested in but you could have a look here
http://www.staffshomeguard.co.uk/
They focus mainly on Staffordshire, but do have information on other areas of the U.K.
Robbins - Wolverhampton.
Spooner - Monmouthshire & Wolverhampton.
Warner & Loundes - Dudley/West Bromwich.
Dod(g)son - Heysham/Liverpool/Wolverhampton
