John Urry

My 3rd great grandmother is Jane Urry I have found a baptism record for her 1809 Godshill Isle of Wight. I think her parents are John Urry and Elizabeth Meader married 1798. I can find a birth for Elizabeth, but not John, can anyone help please?

Have you found a burial for him, to get an age, so you know approx. when he may have been born?

You don't seem sure of the marriage - maybe better to firm that up before going back, in case you are following the wrong person?

Looks like Jane named her Son after her Brother.

Ok now we know who she married the 1825 Marriage Record has her as Urry or Ivey.

If married 1825 I would think she was born before 1809.

Do you have any Census for Thomas/Jane?

1841 Jane is not born in County and 1851 Thomas Lakin is widowed.

GRO 1849 Death Index as you know has her as age 40

I think we can rule out the Jane with Parents John/Elizabeth as she seems to marry Isaac Ash after many years of being with him.

That leaves 2 born Hampshire 1807-1811 to JAMES/HANNAH and DAVID/TRUTH


Have you been able to get a copy of the 1825 Marriage?
Jane would be underage so it may say with permission of ....

Hi again I agree you've ruled out John and Elizabeth for Jane's
parents. I have a Royal Marine Artillery record and it looks like Urry to me. They have a daughter in Portsmouth, Mary Ann and I also have the same parents as you for Thomas. I have Jane's death certificate, which states she is 40 in 1849, but these aren't always accurate are they?
