Parish of Harding - where is/was it?

John Eltom widower and Catherine Bartlett spinster were married in Great Bedwyn, Wilts on 5 Dec 1768. Catherine was otp, but John was of the parish of Harding in the county of Oxford. Does anyone know where Harding is?

As Wendy suggests, Phillimore's atlas has no Harding parish listed in Oxfordshire. However, I keyed Harding, Oxfordshire into google maps and there is both a Harding Way and a Harding Road in Abingdon, as well as a Harding Close in Faringdon.

Perhaps it was a small place that got swallowed up by a bigger town.

The village of Harpsden is mentioned in the

My source was "Oxfordshire Parish Registers and Bishops Transcripts", by Colin Harris, one of the OFHS Vice-Presidents.  The book is given free to all new members.  It details all parishes in Oxfordshire, but also gives "other names" of places.

Thank you both for your help. It looks like this John is likely to be connected to the Shiplake / Henley Eltham / Eltam / Eltoms than the Bampton group.
