Many of the agencies sent back reports from Canada to the poor law unions in England detailing the progress of individual children. Where this correspondence survives, it is filed in series
MH 12 at the National Archives (Kew). For most unions, including Sheffield, it peters out in the mid 1890s. There are also papers in
MH 19/9 for a few years only, around 1890. As you don’t give any dates, I don’t know if any of this will be relevant for you.
These reports are not online, they are not name-indexed online, and a personal research visit to Kew is required. But if you have the time to search through the volumes for the appropriate dates, the findings can be very rewarding.
