1861 census for Manchester for Platt
« on: Friday 05 August 05 01:48 BST (UK) »
I am looking for Adam and Elizabeth Platt, by 1861 he would be about 56.  Pat replied to my earlier message to say that it was near impossible to find them on the 1841/51 census without an address.  All I know is that they had children born in Manchester.  I know that this is a very big ask but this family has been a brick wall now for the last 10 to 15 years, as I can not get past  the birth of James in 1835 but I do know that they had a son William born c 1842 and I can not find his birth.
Thank you
Michelle

Hi,

Just to say the the BRVI2 has a Thomas Platt Christened on 23rd March, 1843 to an Adam and Elizabeth Platt at St. George, Chorley.  I checked the 1851 for Worden Hall but they were not living there at the time - I just wondered if Elizabeth had died and he had remarried an Ellen, but then I noticed that the one at Worden already had a Thomas.

Is it possible that the death you found in 1871 was for one of the other Adam`s?  and your Adam had already died?  Just a thought.

Regards,
Mo

The trouble is that there are two Adam Platt's born around the same time, my Adam was born in Chorley in May 1805 to James and Jane.  Adam  was a blacksmith not a farmer.  The other Adam is on the IGI born 6 Feb 1806 also in Chorley and his parents were Ralph and Ellen.  I am sure that they are related as both families gave  the same names to their children.
