Thanks everyone for the colour images. They are brilliant. Frederick was 23 and Esther was 18 when they married in 1893. I know these kind of photographs would have been pricey enough, though not exorbitant. I was hoping someone would be able to gauge their "status" at the time of the picture. The last record I have of his employment shows him as a "horckery (sic) car driver" in 1911 so I doubt he was highly paid.

My estimate of their ages a bit harsh, then, but I'd put the date right up to the time Frederick was a "horckery" driver. And, others may know better but I think what they are wearing is typical of what most people could wear as "Sunday best", so not easy to judge their status by their clothing.
