Ann BRIGHTMORE - 1777 two marriages in Bakewell
« on: Sunday 31 December 17 18:32 GMT (UK) »
Happy New Year Derbyshire.

I'm a bit stuck with Ann BRIGHTMORE, my 5 x gt gran.  I know a lady of that name married Samuel BOND 14 Jul 1777 at Bakewell after Banns, both said to be from Rowland. Genuki told me that Rowland has never had a church of it's own.  I have taken this lady's baptism to be the one at Baslow 17 Oct 1756, dau of Michael and Ann Brightmore.  There is another Ann Brightmore baptised at Baslow 5 Aug 1755 to James and Elizabeth, but she was buried there in 1756.
So far so good.  Now I find that an Ann BRIGHTMORE married Richard NOTON at Bakewell 27 Nov 1777, both single and said to be from Baslow.  Public trees which appear to be copied from one another have Ann the daughter of Michael marrying Richard NOTON.
I think I'm right but wonder if anyone can help please, either finding another spare Ann, or proving which one married my Samuel BOND.

Thanks for looking.  NC.

Thanks.  I have seen the marriages on Freereg, and also on a pay site where the actual register pages are viewable.  I did wonder about the significance of the 1745 marriage of Noton and Brightmore.

Any thoughts on a spare Ann?

740 is the number of Brightmores in my Excel database, many in Baslow.   69 Annes.  You are welcome to have a copy.  Been collecting about 30 years.

My Ann Flemmish Brightmore is allegedly bp 1786 in Pentrich, Derbyshire (next to Ripley).
Ann ma John ORME in 1816 in Pentrich.
Before her ma she had a son in 1810 and named him Emanuel.
They went on to have children named Martha, Sarah, Isaac, Elizabeth, Mary, William & George.
I believe my Ann's parentsare George Brightmore of Buxton who ma Ann Flemmich in Buxton.
My email is cathy.johnson7@ntlworld.com  I can send you the document which could have yours in there.
Cathy.

Thank you for your responses.  Dankent - I wonder if you could please tell me the name and birth year or baptism of your 5 x gt , the brother of Ann, then I could likely get the right parents.  If Michael and Ann (Platts) are the right parents I already have Ann's siblings as William 1751, Mary 1754, Sarah 1759, Elizabeth 1762, John and Hannah (twins) 1766.

Meanwhile I've been looking at the DNA Thru Lines. It has come up with my Bond line from Ann as I expected, but off to the side it gives me Samuel NOTON born 1811, a child of Ann, as a "half 4th great granduncle".  I have several DNA connections to him but none of the trees have any references that could help, just copied from one another but my Ann must be his mother. I've been looking around the PRs and found the two marriages of Ann BRIGHTMORE in the same year 1777, same place, same vicar.  So I'm sure there must be two of them probably cousins.  I wonder if maybe Ann Noton couldn't conceive so Ann Bond had a baby for her. The baby continued with the surname NOTON and named Richard Noton as his father when he married.
However it still doesn't prove her parentage, so hopefully more info from Dankent can help with that.
