Where was my gran Mary Dearn living in Rood End, Warley Wigorn?
« on: Sunday 24 December 17 19:32 GMT (UK) »
Hello everyone, I'm hoping to know if my grandmother Mary Dearn was still living at, or near Rood End Road (where she had moved to, and possibly died there) while I was a teenager early 1950s.
My dad (1906-2000) mentioned these brief details which I scribbled down much too quickly, also wish I'd been more attentive now of course.
And it could be said that this request is from a too elderly person with maybe a not very reliable memory.   :-\  --
Mary's parents, my G.grandparents William and Helen? had children including, Mary, Margaret and Helen. Mary may have been born or had a close relative, at Hill Top Farm Warley Wigorn.
Any help much appreciated. Wish you all a very Merry Christmas.

Is this your family? Scroll to Hilltop Farm, mentions William & Ellen Dearn, their daughter Mary was born c 1860, possibly not your Granmother as you say your father was born 1906.

Hello Cas, thank you for reply. Yes I'm reasonably sure that is Mary at Hill Top Farm, and we had family visitors at Christmas who have my Dearn's in their Tree. Now I'm newly up to date regarding my old folk, so to speak.  :)  Mary married into my grandfather's family, they were all in the Lightwoods Park area, Bearwood when gran Mary died a short while after I was born in 1934.
Very interesting website you gave me 'Old Memories Of Old Warley'. Hubby has a cousin there and we knew the area very well, I shall ring them to see if I can have permission to copy one or two of the lovely old photos.
And thank you for your help. Happy New Year to you.  :)
