Many thanks to Loord, Japeflakes, Geoff, Mike and JenB for all you efforts. In the same batch of photos that I purchased there are a couple of much clearer view but these are the "back end" of the church showing the "east" window which actually faces west.
It was the only church in Carlisle not to have a dedicated postcard, probably because it was so blackened from the smoke of steam trains on the nearby railway.
Anyone who wants to take a copy of the improved images has my permission to do so or if they want a photo of the rear of the church for family history purposes, just PM me.
