Hi Peggy13. Francis Wood and Mary Bone are my great-great-grandparents. Yes, he was from Kirkcudbright, Scotland.

They were settled in the Puslinch area of Ontario. His father, Francis Wood (Sr) died there in 1854 and is buried in the Pioneer Pergola Cemetery near Cambridge, Ontario. His wife Mary, and others of the family, later moved to Manitoba.

I think I have some more info on Mary somewhere...and there is a new Mary Wood in the family!

How interesting.  Would love to compare notes with you.  I have that Francis Sr. who died in 1854 was also married to a Bone (Janet) and she died in 1866.  Yes, Mary moved to Manitoba. I was within a few miles of Virden, Manitoba a couple weeks ago and would have loved to go there and check things out but was running short of time.
