Date of Photo G Grandfather Edward Crickmore
« on: Tuesday 19 September 17 07:11 BST (UK) »
Hi, any clues on the date of photo shown, I'm told it's my G Grandfather Edward Crickmore born 1887 and died 1938 but always wonder if it's actually his father my GG Grandfather Edward Crickmore born 1842 died 1914, photo would have been taken in Qld, Australia.

I`d go for the later date as short sleeved shirts are relatively modern. Up to the 1960`s men rolled their shirt sleeves up, I seem to remember.
They look like army boots too. Hope this is a little help.Viktoria.

Thanks Viktoria, was told it was my G Grandfather but think it was a bit of a guess as photo wasn't named, he was in the first world war and photo could be taken on the land he was given, photo attached is of him in 1917, hard to say if it's the same person, there are similarities (moustache)

Had he been a prisoner of war?  He looks very very gaunt in the first photo - pretty thin in the second too for that matter.  I would guess after the WW1  - for no reason other than the 'feel' of the photo.

I thought he was wearing shoes.   :-\

Wiggy I thought the same thing. Pow was my first thought as I looked at the photo. Also agree with him wearing shoes.

Thankyou, nothing in his war records about being a POW, he was wounded in action though, gun shot to left thigh and leg.
