If you know an address the family were at around 1939, you can search the whole street without putting in any names or dates of birth. Just click on the advance search for address. Sometimes you really do have to play around with names/dates of births & address's on the 1939 to get the right person. Like most genealogical site they are riddled with errors.

Thank you all for your input.  I will try and see if there is somewhere local (Cornwall) that might have the info.
