Research at PRONI, Belfast
« on: Sunday 10 September 17 09:41 BST (UK) »
Are there any Belfast based Rootschat members who are well acquainted with researching microfilmed early records of Church of Ireland baptisms, marriages and burials at PRONI? If so, I would be glad to hear from an experienced genealogist(s) who could be interested in a commission to carry out research there on my behalf.

there are a lot of records online, free....
Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.

Thanks, but apparently the 18th-19thC records for Magherafelt that I'm interested in are yet to be digitised.

I’m looking for a baptism record for my 3rd great grandfather, Samuel Russell Blair between 1805-1810. I’m expecting to find this in the Templepatrick Presbyterian Church records, unfortunately they are only available on site at PRONI and PHSI. Is there anyone in Belfast willing and able to assist in a lookup at PRONI? This is my only link in trying to find his parents, birthdate and possible siblings. PRONI Reference :   CR4/12/A/1 , A copy is also available on microfilm onsite - MIC1B/11/1.

I would be very gratefull.
Best regards,
Ruben

Ruben,

Are you still looking for this look-up? I should be in PRONI next week and can look for it if you wish.

Riben,

I searched Templepatrick NSP records at PRONI today. (MIC1B/11/1).

I did not find Samuel Blair’s baptism nor any other Blair baptisms in the period 1805 - 1810.

A few records were illegible but I could read most.  Marriages started in 1797. I searched them too up to 1810. No Blairs.

The records also contain names of communicants from 1811 - 1824. I did not see the surname Blair once in those records.
