I couldn't get in any clearer, so added some colour instead. Hopefully someone else can do a better job on the clarity.

Good quality size scans will mean much better restores >> hint hint :-)

At the risk of sounding like a stuck record, if you have the original, scan it again at a higher resolution for better results.  :)

I can't improve on HandyPandy's restore but I agree that a high resolution scan and high JPG quality would give much more detail in faces and clothes.
