It does look as though the only way for you to get any more information on his Army service is to get his service records, sadly they are expensive £30.  At least now you have some information from Max as to the regiments he could have been in

If you do send for his record and establish that he did serve in the Wiltshire Regiment then I happen to live 8 miles from their museum and, although they don't have personal files, they may have other information of interest that I'd be delighted to search out.

thank you so much for the offer max..  its hard living in western Australia  theres so much info I would love to look through in the uk lol
