No wonder there are mssing records - and of course, always just for the years you want!
I came across this the other day from the church records of Auchterderader. (Second item on the clip).
The clerk who fills in the register isn’t doing it until he gets paid! So the Session leaders ‘unanimously condescend’ to pay him - on the proviso that this isn’t to be taken as given if and when somebody else takes over. and they will have to negotiate terms themselves.
