looking to decipher text on the rear of some photos please
« on: Sunday 30 July 17 15:20 BST (UK) »
Hi
I have uploaded the rear of some photos that were in my Stepfathers possesion when he came over to the UK after ww2, I wouls like to know if someone could translate these please, I think most of the text is Serbian as he lived in Yugoslavia before the war and was in various prison camps in Germany.
he died over 20 years ago and there is no family left so if they are a personal nature that is no problem.
Regards Colin

Ah, Colin, Serbian is not a language I know and I've not a clue what these say but I notice, and I'm sure that you have too, that there appears to be the name and address of (probably) a photographic studio on one of them - Studio Gruber, Markt 8, Minden. All I can say about that is that Minden is not far, maybe 50 km, from Nienburg where Stalag X-C was.
Seabridge : Staffordshire, Birmingham, Middlesex and elsewhere.

Having looked up some of the words on Wiktionary, here is an attempt.  Apart from жене which definitely = wife, the genders may be imprecise but maybe you can clarify from the pictures or family knowledge.

Photo 1 says something like
For Ljubodrag Stojadinović [Љубодраг Стојадиновић] as a souvenir/reminder/keepsake of[or from?] a wife, [daughter?]-in-law and grandchild

Photo 2 'from [d?]-in-law Zoja and grandchild Miroslav[a?]
can't identify the last word

Photo 3 [with love?] as a souvenir/reminder/keepsake,
Then presumably a place name which might be Braunschweig (Брауншвајг) which is near the places mentioned by Malcolm.
After the date 18 maj 1948 it looks like a signature, not L.S. again but surname possibly Vinogradović although I'm not sure about the first letter or two.
No idea what the last line is, looks like an abbreviation of some sort.

Photo 4 is hard to read, the writing looks strained as if by a child or due to injury or not used to writing?
It ends with his name Ljubodrag Stojadinović, a place, and date 1945, and there are probably two other place names above, all likely Cyrillic forms of German places but I couldn't find a probable match to any of them.
Rutter, Sampson, Swinerd, Head, Redman in Kent.  Others in Cheshire, Manchester, Glos/War/Worcs.
RUTTER family and Matilda Sampson's Will:

thanks very much on the translation
some of it does now make sense, looks like I will have to dig a little deeper into this but it is a start, once again many thanks to the people who have replied.
