Thank you so much for all your help Waterfall - will check Wavenden first then as you suggest have look over the border in Herts. That marriage info is great - father Thomas bootmaker clinches it as the right marriage.
Best wishes Jan ;)

David
It would have been so easy to miss them in Luton - some entries don't look anything like what they are supposed to be  ??? ::)
Thanks for your interest
Best wishes Jan ;)

Hi All

I have just checked the Luton 1851 Index and can not find them either. It was so much easier than the way David had to do it. ;D

Cheers Sandy

Thanks for double checking there Sandy. I've just had a thought: I did an 1841 lookup recently where a Samuel was wrongly indexed as James (Saml on original image but not very clear). So don't suppose there is a James Underwood of the right age on your index?
Regards Jan ;)

Hi Jan

No only a Hannah 42 in Luton no James.

I have also checked the 1851 Bucks and my 1851 Northants and no sign of them there.

Cheers Sandy

Thanks for looking Sandy - I'll post in Herts, if they're not there I shall have to be patient and wait for Ancestry to have 1851 online  ::) ;D
Cheers Jan ;)

Hi Jan

I've tried all combinations but can see neither Samuel nor Hannah. Perhaps they went on an extended round the world cruise for their honeymoon! More realistically, they were in Luton and were just missed.

Sorry!

2 mins later. Just read the amendment to your original message. It's them! Samuel Weedard (did 'e?)

Castle St
Samuel Woodard lodger marr 35 plasterer b Clophill
Ann Woodward lodger marr 25 b Wavendon

Samuel was at the bottom of one page, Ann at the top of the next, and the surnames are as I've spelt them above ie they're different!

Must be them Luton, Samuel, Clophill, Wavendon, and plasterer are right!!!

That was a struggle but I think we all got there - eventually. Thread 3 pages long, read 334 times, for a simple census look up. Is this a record?
