First 'Motton' in Australia - James Alexander Motton born 14 October 1791, Surrey England, died 19 December 1881 Beaconsfield Tasmania Australia. Arrived Hobart Town November 1819 on board the Regalia - first passenger only ship to Van Diemens Land (no convicts on board). Married to Mary Ann (Williams) in 1818 England. First son Robert George born 23 October 1819 - one month prior to arrival in Tasmania. They had 9 children. James Alexander Motton is my x3 great grandfather. His second son William Walter had 13 children - one son William Peacock Motton was my grand mother's father's (Lily Motton). Sadly William Peacock Motton had only one son, William Henry born 1890 - he joined the A.I.F. and left Syndey to serve in World War ! on 17.6.1918 and I have no other information regarding his life from this date. No Mottons remain in Tasmania (that I am aware of) - descendants of Robert George live imainly in Victoria. I would love any information relating to any Mottons, either within Australia or the U.K.
