Marriage/Missing Wife Help

Can anyone help locate a missing wife?
My GGGG uncle Michael Porritt married Emma Crawshaw on 28/12/1851 at Birstall. Her father was John Crawshaw a carpet weaver.
Michael went to Amercia at some point between this marriage and 1861 (never found him on a passenger list). He is on the US census as Michael Punit in Morganfield, Kentucky. He remarried in USA in 1864 and remained there until he died.
So what happened to Emma? No obvious death on death index. Did she remarry?
Any help appreciated.

On the UK side, there are very few (if any) Passenger Records before 1890.
You need to look at US records for that.
Maybe Emma went to US with Michael, and either died there or on the journey over?

Possible death of the daughter
Ann Porritt
1856 Apr-May-Jun
Dewsbury
Volume: 9b
Page: 317
ADDED: Ignore that - Ancestry have the transcription wrong, it is Jane not Ann and the GRO give her age as 74!

Thanks for your posts "groom".
The death of Jane is actually Michael's grandmother!!
I can't find Emma or baby Ann on 1861 UK census but neither are with him in USA 1860 census. If they died on the voyage would their deaths be recorded in the UK or Amercia?
Thanks
