First off, I thank you all for your speedy replies.

I think first up I need to check the Rosina Hibberd who married a William F Harrup in Shoreditch and Rose Hibbert to x? Walker  1920 q2 W.Ham 4a 297.

Just to clarify a few points that some of you asked;

She is listed twice in the 1911 census: living at home and at the work house.
The family had lost contact with her before the her parents died so she would not have registered the deaths.
There was no will as the family were poor.

Im busy at work over the next few days but will come back to you with my results re the marriages.

That's what I was thinking too Rosie, institutions can often be children's homes,schools,places for teenage girls to train for future work,or even hospitals.

I could then visualise Rose being included both at home and away,her parents not being sure in advance where she is going to be on census night.

It may be an idea for OP to look at the first page of the 'institution' as it should give more information against the people who were running it

Just had a look at the 1911 census. it was St Leonards Branch School, 26 and 28 Lower Clapton Road, London N E.
