Could Rootschatters check out the following site:

It seems an excellent idea, something many of us have thought about.  The drawback is that at the moment you can only enter names one at a time, but they're working on the idea of uploading gedcoms.  It's at an early stage but it's worth our co-operation.
Godden in East Sussex, mainly Hastings area.
Richards in Lea, Gloucestershire, then London.
Williamson in Leith, Vickers in Nottingham.
Webb in Bildeston and Colchester.
Wesbroom in Kirby le Soken.
Ellington in Harwich.
Park, Palmer, Segar and Peartree in Kersey.

Thank you for the heads up on this site.  I’m a regular user of Wikipedia, but missed this one. 

It has exciting potential.
