I am a LONG time subscriber to FindMyPast I have had an extra 3 days added to my FindMyPast subscription BUT ONLY because I emailed them re a moan about yet another free weekend to the site!!

It would seem that some FindMyPast subscribers got an automatic 3 extra days added to their subscription I had to make a complaint before any extra time was added!

I am not against FindMyPast offering free weekend access but I don't see why long time subscribers should "lose out" & certainly unfair to only give extra days to SOME subscribers!!

If that is the case, it is very unfair, I got an email so assumed it applied to all subscribers. If it doesn't and it is just potluck that you are "chosen," they are going to lose even more loyal customers.

I also read that Bucks and Berks PR's are coming to FindMyPast. Cannot come soon enough. Many ancestors from there as there is poor coverage online, also living 200 miles from the records offices does not help.

In relation to Berkshire general consensus seems to be that they will be transcripts only so don't get your hopes up too much - see http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=748263.msg6265876#msg6265876

So far their "6 counties in 6 months" have only been transcripts.  That said, if they were the Bucks FHS transcripts, which are pretty complete, I'd be fairly happy although digitised copies of the originals would be better.

Yes it has been rather dissappointing that when FindMyPast do release Parish records most have been only transcriptions & not the actual images!
I realise there are a lot of records out there, but transcriptions are not "quite" the same, I have  mostly YKS ancestors I really love seeing the various Baptisms/Marriages/Burial images that FindMyPast have made available & have found many showing my past family, patiently waiting for the images for the Northumberland area, in the hope that FindMyPast are going to add them to their collection & not leaving it at the transcriptions only!

I would be willing to pay more for my subscription IF there were more in the way of actual PR images.

I have an annual subscription to UK records. I did not get an email offering to extend my subscription, so I emailed them and asked for an extra three days to be added.

I received a reply stating only customers with a world subscription are getting extra days added.

I have now replied asking why I should pay to view UK records while the rest of the world can see them for free.

I do have a World sub, so that explains it, however I think it is very poor customer service that it is only the people who have that who are given 3 extra days. The rule should be that it is granted to any subscriber who has access to those records which are being offered free. Or perhaps those who only have UK subs are given 3 days World subscription.

I'm a long time UK subscriber. To be honest I am fed up of seeing postings about these seemingly constant free offers. I must be a masochist because I always read them, which makes me even more annoyed. Hopefully some of the freeloaders will use their free time to do look ups for other people?

I wouldn't mind these offers quite so much if I was offered a couple of extra days, so I shall be emailing FindMyPast to ask why I'm not entitled to one.

Joan.

And I find FindMyPast Fridays are quite disappointing every Friday now. Lots of "exciting new records" are from America, Australia or Canada, or if they are for a certain county they are just a fraction of what is out there or if they are a lot of them, they are browse only so you have to trawl through reams and reams of images.

I sometimes buy a sub to UK records as I have an account with them but if they do have free days then I will take advantage of them I admit I am occasionally a freeloader when I have not bought a 1 month sub, money does not grow on trees lol.

Finally got an answer which states all subscribers will receive an additional 3 days subscription, but they noticed I hadn't received them so this data will be passed on to get this amended. So it looks as if everyone should have got the extra 3 days, but if I hadn't spotted this subject on Rootschat and queried it I probably wouldn't have got them. I agree with you Joan it looks as if not everyone 's getting them automatically. Torre I only have the UK Subscription
