WW11 - Royal Army Ordnance - Horace Henry Littlehales Utrecht
« on: Wednesday 21 June 17 20:40 BST (UK) »
I am trying to trace anyone who knew my Grandfather Horace Henry Littlehales. He was born in 1914 and died in 1991. He lived in Walsall.
I know he served in the Royal Army Ordnance Corp - and he was based in Utrecht.

Does anyone know of him? I believe he had a child with a lady he had an affair with whilst in Utrecht.
Where can I find details?

Thank you.

Horace married twice - 1940 and 1976

Where has the info come from re: the illegitimate child and how reliable is it?  When was the child born and was it male or female?

Was the child born before or after his 1940 marriage?    Did he make financial provision for the child from his army pay?

Do you have a name for the child - please do not publish the name as the child may still be alive

If not - trying to find a birth in another country some 70+ years ago without a name or birthyear could prove virtually impossible?

I checked the Dutch website www.wiewaswie.nl/en but no hits for Littlehales.
But the birth was probably registered under the mother's surname.

Also, I think the birth is probably too recent to be on there?
I think it's only births more than 100 years ago? :-\

Thank you very much for looking up the name on the Dutch website. I think you are probably right that the child would have been registered under the Mother's name.

Does anyone know if his army records would have details of the child?

His record would only show the child if he acknowledged it as his at the time which may not have been the case from what you say.
