There was one sibling Margaret Mary Walsh born in Hobart 24 th Nov 1888
Father William Walsh listed as Cab proprietor.
Her mother Catherine Nimmo was from Hobart.All other siblings were born in Sydney.

Thank you for the information on the birth record. It is useful to know that William's birthplace is not given by himself. Another person is identifying his birthplace.

If William is the informant on a birth certificate, he would be identifying his own birthplace.  It does not make it incorrect, but worth noting....and when Catherine does not seem to be sure of his age.

That's a handy tip to remember. Margaret's birth has Catherine as informant again maybe I need to check the other siblings birth certs & hope William is an informant on one.

A William Walsh born about 1855 arrived in Sydney on 27 Aug 1877 on the Samuel Plimsoll ship.

This William was aged 22, a Groom from Cork in Ireland.  Father Thomas WALSH, Cork.

Note that the passengers on this voyage only have the county of origin listed so for this William it is likely to be County Cork, not Cork city.
