1841/51 - census - Robbins
« on: Saturday 30 July 05 19:29 BST (UK) »
Hi - it looks as if my original post on this went up in smoke in all the technical problems yesterday - can't find it - but if it didn't please forgive this duplication. :-[

Anyway, would really appreciate a look up for my ancestors Hannah Robbins and her father William.  Hannah was born c. 1833 and was in Monmouthshire (Pontypool) by 1858 when she married John Stiff. :D

I have found them on the 1861 census and William is also living with them.  But I can't read where they (William and Hannah)were born, other than Somerset.  Hannah place of birth may say something like 'Camelstone'  ???, but William's says 'Tallgo'  :P, but at least I have now got his approximate DOB, which is 1796, so it may be just as well that yesterday's post ran away ;D ;D

As ever any help will be really appreciated -  :) ;D

Regards

Julie :)
Stiff - Monmouthshire & Glos, Parry - Monmouthshire
Stafford - Glos, Liles - Glos, Bright- Glos, Webb - Monmouthshire & Glos, Smart - Glos, Smith - Glos
Sullivan - Ireland, Jones (oh dear! Almost as bad as Smith), Walker - Somerset, Llewellyn
And, no don't laugh...Crump...I think it's great!

And of course, if I ever do manage to do a successful look up it is crown copyright and all that legal stuff!

hello Julie

stumbled into your post July 2005 this week ref: 1841/51-census-Robbins
The reply from (Sue) stated a family in Coleford,Kilmersdon as a possibility
If this family was indeed your ancestors then i can advise that they are also
mine. You have given me a census location for William in 1861 that i did not have. Taunton gave me a copy of baptism record for William indicating mother and father. Maybe you can fill in some blanks for me. I do have a wealth of data on the family record.

regards

Alan
