Help with restoring wedding photo from 1901
« on: Friday 26 May 17 01:49 BST (UK) »
We would love to have this photo of our grandparents restored. This is a wedding photo of Oscar Carl Wieden and Selma Lovisa Swanson, taken on their wedding day 24 Sep 1901, in Brockton, Massachusetts.

Thank you!

Hi Annie and welcome to RootsChat...for best results and a good printout a scan in colour and at a resolution of 300dpi is recommended. You can post a file size of up 500kbs here and yours is a very small file at only 57kbs.

Hi, Anniewhargrave, and welcome to RootsChat.

I've done what I could with your photo, but you could get a lot better result from the experienced people on here if you could post a better scan. The one you posted is only 57 kB and you can post up to 500kB. If you can, just remember to also give the new file a different name or it won't post.

(Sorry, Carol. Saw your post too late.)

Cheers, Peter

Thank you for your response. The actual picture was "oversized" and I reduced it down. Perhaps I reduced it too much? I'll try again.

This is my 2nd try at reducing the size of this wedding photo for restoration. I believe the pixels are set for just under 800. I'm not total versed in the process changing photo size, so please let me know if I need to do something differently.

Thank you!

Great scan this time, of a lovely picture of a very attractive couple. Had a try for you. Sorry I don't have the skills to recover a lot from the badly faded sections. Cheers, Peter.
