Just lucky with the spelling I guess, there are so many variations :)

Wow, I had literally stumbled on to some of this since my last reply so great to get some confirmation!

I couldnt get his army record up so that is fantastic the info you've found. The year we had for him based on census was ariund 1824 so that will be him! Brilliant! Where did you get his attestment docs?

Two lessons for me:

1.  Use more name variants (I used Daley and Dailey) - found them now though!
2.  Widen the year search.  The 91st were indeed stationed in Corfu in 1858 (three years before I looked) (the Corfu garrison also manned Kefalonia).

And he comes up in the 1861 army index stationed in India.

Lesson for me was not to take as much info for granted from a census return or marriage certificate. All 3 years of birth were wrong and one place. Lol. Thanks again
