Marriage lookup 1937 Manhattan
« on: Sunday 14 May 17 14:14 BST (UK) »
Hello,

I'm trying to find the marriage record of Elaine Ruth GUDMAND and John Benjamin IRELAND; according to the New York City marriage indexes, they were married on 29 Dec. 1937 in Manhattan, Certificate No.: 28996.

You would need to order it from the New York City Municipal Archives.  http://www.nyc.gov/html/records/html/archives/holdings.shtml

Unfortunately that order form doesn't allow marriages after 1929.

Would it be available in the LDS Family History Library in the microfilm no.: 1674949, titled "Certificates no. 28250-29500 1937"?

Is there something specifically you are looking for in the marriage record?  It appears the marriage only lasted 12 years and they  divorced in 1949.

Yes, you could probably get the microfilm through a Family History Center.

https://www1.nyc.gov/dorforms/marriage.htm  This form says "Years Available
*Check at least one borough to search
June 1847-1848; July 1853-1937  Manhattan (New York County)"

So, it looks like either the certificate or marriage license should be available for that time frame.  You could call or e-mail them if there are any issues.
