Mystery of Martha Ann Sutton
« on: Thursday 04 May 17 12:37 BST (UK) »
Hello all,

Martha Ann Sutton, my great - aunt was born 1859 in Chorlton / Hulme.
Her parents were Thomas and Martha Sutton nee Eyres.
She was the last sibling of six surviving children.
She show in the censuses of 1861 - 1871 and 1881.

Now the mystery for me.
Did she marry ?
Did she die ?

My research has brought me to the dreaded brick wall

Thanks all

Have you looked for a possible marriage or death?

Hi Debra,

Yes !, in marriage only shows a possible Charles Edward Richardson in 1887, Chorlton
or Robert Charles Riley also Chorlton, which would be her parish.
Yet things do not appear clear.

Just to clarify. Is she the Martha at 31 Shrewsbury Street, Stretford in 1881?

Charles Edward Richardson seems to marry Elizabeth Chadwick.

Robert Charles Riley seems to marry Sarah Jane Morris

The Martha marrying Edward Craig in 1887 is only 20 and has father Samuel!

I did notice that Martha's father dies in 1883 so perhaps her mother remarried?
