Would anyone be able to tell me if you can still apply for certificates by application form through
the post other than on line.  Thank you.

Thank you for replying. Could you tell me how to get an application form. I think I must be behind
the times, it seemed a lot easier some while ago!!

I ring the GRO office and ask them to send whichever form I require. You could of course write to them or use their online site. I'm a pen and paper person , not very good with online. :D

Hi deebee

Just out of curiousity, why do you want to apply by letter rather than making a phone call to the GRO?

Hi, It has been a long time since I last sent away for a certificate, then I just downloaded a form, filled it in and sent it to the gro with a cheque.  I've looked on their site recently and thought that you could only apply on line, which I would rather not do. So I'm pleased to find out that you can still apply by post.

I've obtained a lot of certificates from local register offices rather than the GRO, and have usually requested them by letter.  You can include all the information you have in a letter (unlike a form), so there is a better chance of getting the right certificate.  It's always worked out quicker than the GRO too.
