Birth and/or baptism record - John TATTERSALL

I am struggling to find a birth or baptism (or possibly death) record for my gg grandfather John Tattersall born either 1849 or 1850 in Tunstead Mill, Lancs (from 1871 census). His marriage certificate (to Pathana YEADON in 1869) states his father was Richard Tattersall, a cotton overlooker. John's occupation on marriage was cotton minder.  I can find no verifiable record of him after this census (nor verifiable previous census record without mother's name). His wife is living with her mother and daughter in 1881 census but status is married not widow, and she is listed as Head of household with her daughter and her sister at 1891 census. Their daughter's marriage certificate in 1894 shows her father's occupation as lighthouse keeper and I have records of a John Tattersall who is a labourer marrying in Salford in 1877 and emigrating to Western Australia where he worked as a lighthouse keeper until his death in 1926. I'm trying to join the dots to see if they are actually the same person.

Have a closer look at the 1871 census and on the same page, I think you will see his parents Richard and Margaret plus younger brothers William Frederick and George.  Richard is a cotton overlooker. 

On the 1861 the family are in Newchurch, Lancs and in 1851, John age 1 and parents Richard and Margaret are with her father who is PROCTOR.**

** What doesn't fit is that a Richard TATTERSALL occ Mule Spinner married spinster Margaret RATCLIFFE of Tunstead Mill 11 August 1849 in Newchurch in Rossendale.

then the GRO has a birth registered Dec quarter of 1849 at Haslingden volume 21 page 441 of a John TATTERSALL mother's maiden name RATCLIFFE.  So don't know about the surname PROCTOR in 1851,....maybe I have the wrong family.

It looks like Margaret RATCLIFFE was the stepdaughter of William PROCTOR who married widow Sarah RATCLIFFE at St Peter's in Burnley in 1832.  From Margaret and Richard's marriage record her father was James.  The PROCTOR family and Ellen and Margaret RATCLIFFE are together in 1841 census.
