Cook family Great Houghton

Hi Iīm looking to what happened to this family of Cookīs from Great Houghton.

James Cook (bapt. Nov 12th 1743 at 29 yrs) married Sarah Emerton on 8 Jan 1746 in Gt. Houghton.
James & Sarah had the following children:-
James (bapt. 14 May 1749)
Sarah (bapt. 9 Feb 1752)
Mary (bapt. 26 Aug 1753)
Martha (bapt. 2 Jul 1758)
John (bapt. 14 Jun 1761)

Sarah who was baptised in 1752 was buried 18 Aug 1763, and it was noted that her mother Sarah was a widow.

I can not find any records of James burial, or Sarah re marrying, or what happened to her family.

There is a Sarah Cook, widow, buried in 1778 in Great Houghton?

Can't see a James anywhere at the moment, though!

Thanks for that. I had a look last night and just could not find her. James Cook just didnīt show at Gt. Houghton for the years between the birth of his son John and the death of his daughter Sarah.

On Alan Clarkes Northants Burial there is this record.

I have just looked in the 1777 Militia Lists  to no avail.

Thanks Sandy, I think that would probably be James Cook who was bapt. 14th May 1749. James Cook snr. died between late 1760 to mid 1763.

James would have probably been too old for the militia in 1762, as he would have been 48 years old.

As the burial I looked at states the child was the daughter of Sarah widow with no age
in 1763, do you see other info martinsbox.
