Have you looked at the 1939 register to see where he was living and with whom.  :-\

Where can I find the 1939 register ?
It's not on Ancestry....

There are a number of teachers and lots of students in residence there, on the  page opposite him it says”Evacuation Service”.

Did you ever contact St Oswald's to discover if he was buried there?

Try Filey Town Council and see it he is buried in the Lawns Cemetery.

It’s always worth trying a local Councils as people often forget about looking for burials in Municipal Cemeteries.h
