Stan Laurel, Metcalfe connection

Hi,
Has anyone traced the history of Stan Laurel beyond his mother Margaret Metcalfe b 19/3/1884 Askrigg and his grandfather George Metcalfe , a shoe maker. Like many others I have Metcalfe ancestors from that area.
Co. Durham : Ramsey, Coates, Holmes, Cassidy, Warwick
North Yorks, Arkengarthdale : Coates
Norfolk : Barber, Alexander, Cullum
Ireland : Cassidy
Australia (Newcastle) : Coates
