1936 birth location in Liverpool

I have a cert for someone born August 8, 1936 in Liverpool. The "where born" column says 104 Rice Lane. The mother's address is 47 Scourfield St. which isn't nearby. Is there a directory where I might discover who or what was at the birth address 81 years ago?

Normal Stokes born to Alice Stokes, father's name not given, says "adopted* at right of cert.

Searched the 1939 register. Nobody of that surname there then. Hopefully someone from Liverpool can search the electoral roll for that year for you next time they are at the main library.

Thank you for checking the Register. I do not know that the birth address was a residence, though. That's why I was hoping to find an old map or street directory of some sort, for an address-based lookup. I have a marriage cert where a street address is a hospital but the hospital name isn't in the cert.

Seemed to be an ordinary family home in 1939.

There was a workhouse on Rice Lane,,,it then became known as WAlton institute,,,then Walton hospital. Interestingly.....in 1904 the registrar general decided that if you were born in the workhouse,,,you no longer had to put this on the birth certificate,,,and you could instead put an ordinary street address,,or an invented one. Many workhouses used just one address for this purpose....so instead of saying on your birth certificate you were born in the workhouse,,,it would give the address. West Derby which covers the area you are interested in used this address on Workhouse birth certificates....107a Rice Lane. I think the workhouse had ceased to exist by 1936.. But maybe he was born in the institute or hospital...and they used a simalar address,,,just a thought.
