Thank you for helping to answer some fundamentals. I now know some family history for yet another great aunt/uncle nobody had any information about since the 1930s.

After quite a few years, I have returned to the last of my grandfather's siblings to investigate in a bit more detail. Since my first posts, the 1921 census is available but I have not managed to find him there...

What I have learned is that after leaving the Royal Marines in 1919, he had a CR10 merchant seaman's card. I don't have any further information on that.

In 1922 according to his mother's death registration, he was at Crook in Co. Durham working as a fireman. Later in the year he married in the area.

It would be great to know what he was up to in 1921 if anyone can help with the search. Frederick Charles Pope b 11 OCT 1896 in East Stonehouse, Devon.

Thanks in advance!
