My husband is the same . He is completley uninterested in our family history . I personally think it is a lovely thing to pass down the family .

I have a bit more news to add................hope you aren't all getting bored by now :D

I am in contact by email with another rellie who is descended from my GG Grandfather's first marriage.  We have been constantly swapping our Challinor information, and today he has emailed me to tell me that he has Richard Challinor's two marriage certificates :o ;D ;D ;D

Now I am ecstatic............. ;)

Can I join the club of the hubby's who don't have any interest in family history? We should set up a support network so we can at least have someone to tell our exciting discovery's too ;D. Its a pity really when I first started doing this it was because his mum had started, with bits of info many years ago that she was never able to prove. I took the job on years after she died and have learnt a lot of the things she was looking into were right, like the fact there was a Lord Mayor of Melbourne descended from part of hubby's family :D. Every now and then I get a glimmer of interest from him, but I think that he just assumes I have spent so long at all this I cant get any further back ;D But then I like a challenge and when you get into doing family history there is just so much to learn I don't think you ever finish ::)

Great news Jan.  I am really happy for you...wish me luck when I go grave hunting in the next few weeks! ;)

By the way, sign me up for the uninterested husband's club...he didn't even get excited when I told him a Stafford (one of his family names) had married the daughter of a prince...admittedly I have in no way made an actual connection (yet), but you never know :o :D

And when I said I wanted to go and visit some grave yards next week...well I might as well have said I wanted to take the children into a lion enclosure!! ::)

Why does all the exciting stuff have to be on his side??  I only get miners, colliers (yes there is a difference apparently) and agr. labourers >:(

Oh well, my childrens sometimes seem vaguely interested and I know his mother would have loved it ???

Oh graveyard hunting ;D Yes husbands really like that  ::) I can still remember hunting for some of my ancestors, Smiths of all names :( whilst mine sat in the car ;D. The problem is that some of these graveyards are a bit daunting to go to on your own, not because of our dear departed ancestors but sometimes because of the local undesirables that can hang around in them :'(

Well done Jan, after trying to find them on the non existant 1841...which was disappointing for you.

You'll never guess what?

Last Monday I met (for the very first time) Susan from USA, in Tarporley, Cheshire, where we went grave hunting for her family, and while walking round arm in arm, she said, we had a lovely meal in a Pub in SHOCKLACH on Friday night !!!

I said Oooh! that's where Lloydy's rellies come from... I nearly said if I'd known I'd have asked you to take a look round the grave yard (by torch light)  for the Challinors.  She would have done it too.

I'm dead chuffed for you chuck !!!

lots of love
