Irish civil records are now online (gradually all records will be added but they are now searchable in database)- better filtering on https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/civil-search.jsp

For N.I. counties you can do free search on Emerald Ancestors website which will give spouses first/first & middle names, year and registration district.

I'm helping a friend with her tree, I wonder if our Hagen / Higgins are connected. In our case we have Mary Higgins formally Hagen marrying David Wright in Gartsherrie Coatbridge, parents James and Margaret Higgins, m.s. Mckean. James Hagen b1874 married Margaret Mckean and died 1 August 1908, at 34 quarry row, gartsherrie. His father b about 1841 was George hagen born in Ireland married Ann Mccormic. Also wondering why they would change their surname?
