Hi All

If this helps - I located William John McKeever of Tiberan, Errigal died on 4th February 1881. He is 32 years old. Death registered by Daniel McKeever

I think this explains the confusion - William & John are the same person.

Hi

Yes - On the 1851 Census - John & Betty have a son William aged 2 - therefore born in 1849 (But no John listed on the Census).

They also record James - age 7 and Sarah - age 2 who died in 1848.

As John on your list is born Dec 1848 - he could still be 2 but on the verge of being 3 at the time of the 1851 census.

The GRONI Death Certificate I viewed for William gave his full name as William John McKeever - I therefore concluded that William and John were in fact the same person - or another possibility is that John died and the next child William was given his name - but then - like Sarah he would be included on this 1851 Census.

Ah, makes more sense now but you hadn't mentioned the 1851 census information. An online tree I saw at the start of searches gave children William & Sarah both born c1849 but no details listed.

The 1851 census record would seem to rule out William McKeever of Cam as son of John & Betty (dates were tight be just possible if that William was born at the very start of their marriage (1842).

Revised list-
John McKeever (d.1911) m.(1842) Elizabeth “Betty” Cochrane (d.1905)
1. James McKeever (1843-1930) m. Ellen Foster
2. Sarah McKeever (c1846-1848)
3. John/William John/William McKeever (Dec.1848-1881)
4. Eliza McKeever (June 1853-aft.1921)
5. Mary A. McKeever (c1859) m. Alexander Forbes
6. David McKeever (Mar.1863) m. Ellen Kelly (c1874-1914)
7. Daniel McKeever (1865 Belraugh-1911), unm.

Just back from Boleran Chapel and found (with help from old gravedigger) the McKeever marker (not a headstone) which says
Mc KEEVER
Crockindolg
Tommy died 07/05/1973
John died 25/97/1979
Rest in Peace

Think they lived in one of these 2 cottages from what I was told this morning- see Streetview
One on right (greatly renovated) was sold recently but originally they would have been identical-

Excellent! Do these cottages ring bells with you amcg?

I took a venture to ballentrae cemetery yesterday but had no joy.  I need more info on Margaret first before I go back.

An online tree gives a William & Sarah as children but I can find no evidence of this yet, although William of Cam (see next post) is a possibility.

The baptisms giving family at Curragh & Curraghglass fit the Shanlongford location I mentioned earlier from the valuations.

Based on the dates of birth and fact that it's likely all the McKeevers were connected (John perhaps coming into the area to work and meeting a local girl). Betty Cochrane is quite possibly one of the Shanlongford family which would mean this was a mixed marriage. Unfortunately although I have lots of information on the Cochranes I'm unable to connected her to this (or any other) Cochrane family. There are no McKeevers in the area in 1831 census (lists head of household only).

In order to help establish a connection - I'm not sure what information you have to hand - but are you aware that "Widow Cochrane" lived with John and Betty McKeever in Shanlongford on the 1851 Census. John states she is his M/L (I assume - Mother in Law) and she is 53?

Re Mary A McKeever (b1859) m Alexander J Forbes

Could this be the headstone of Mary A Forbes (nee McKeever)? The birth date would appear to be incorrect!
https://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=forbes&GSfn=mary&GSmn=a&GSbyrel=all&GSdyrel=all&GSob=n&GRid=10522753&df=all&

In the 1880 US Census she is single & living in West Toulon, Stark Illinois working as a servant - born 1858. Immigrated 1877.

In the 1900 US Census she is 45, married with 6 children living in Elmira, Stark, Illinois. She records her birthday as Jun 1854. and her age as 45.

In the 1910 US Census she is 58, married with 7 children (6 alive) living in Elmira, Stark, Illinois - born 1852.

So far I have not located either travel documents or death certificate for Mary A Forbes (nee McKeever) but I will continue to look but without the birth info you placed online I was not able to connect her to this family. Thank You.
