Thanks Maddy.

Had looked on Trove for anything about William in March 1861 but didn't find anything. Must have been using the wrong search criteria.

The death registration said he was buried at Tumbarumba, but looking at cemeteries in that area it said that it started about 1874, so not sure where he would have been buried.

Trove has some accounts of his death - he apparently fell from his horse.

The Wynyard Times, Tumut, Tuesday 19 March 1861,  - Page 2
This account is reprinted in a number of other publications.

Do you know where his sons were at the time?  It isn't unusual for burials to be on private land.

Also Manus now seems to be listed (on Googlemap anyway!) as Mannus.

The son Lewis was working at Jingellic about then. The son William married in the Albury district in 1854, and a daughter Sarah also married in the Albury district in 1857.

I have just found out that William and Hannah may have had more children. Nothing in the NSW births other than George J in 1839 and Harriet A in 1843. They have parents as William and Hannah with the district code of MF, which is the Parish of St Lawrence, Sydney.

Looking at the deaths there are a few with that district code, so could they be other children of William and Hannah. There is a four year gap between George and Harriet, and a gap between Lewis 1837 in England and George as well.
Esther 1839, infant
Hannah 1845 age 29 - the mother
Harriet A 1845, infant
Henry 1842, infant
Robert W 1844, infant

If they are theirs then perhaps Hannah died from childbirth complications after having Robert W.

Are the St Lawrence records available anywhere online or do I have to order a transcript from the NSW Transcription Service.
