FLOWERDAY, RUSHMER and BROOKS
« on: Wednesday 27 July 05 14:52 BST (UK) »
I am a newcomer to Rootschat.  My main Norfolk lines are FLOWERDAY / FLOWERDEW, RUSHMER and BROOKS.  I would be very pleased to hear from anyone who is also researching these families.

Hi Holly,
Thank you very much for your kind offer.

The main lines of my FLOWERDAYs and FLOWERDEWs came from the Stalham and Smallburgh areas of Norfolk.  My 6x Great Grandfather was John FLOWERDEW, born circa 1713 in Smallburgh.  He married Ann NICHOLS.  Their son, Robert, married Sarah GRAVENOR and their daughter, Frances, married James RUSHMORE (RUSHMER?) in Stalham in 1792.

I would be grateful to receive any info linked to the FLOWERDAYs.  They seem to have cropped up in various areas of Norfolk, but I would love to find links between the various branches.

Best wishes,
Chris.

Hi again Chris,
I've received an e-mail back from Mike Flowerday in Norwich. In the late nineties he did a bit of "Flowerday" research to help out a guy in Hertfordshire to fill in some blank areas in an extensive Flowerday tree he was compiling. Mike has given me his details, if he is still there, but it's surely worth a try!
ALAN B W FLOWERDAY "INGHAM CORNER", 5 NEWLANDS, LETCHWORTH, HERTS, SG6 2JE phone 01462 481841.
If you are unable to contact Alan Flowerday from the above information, Mike will check to see if he still has his file of correspondence with Alan about somewhere.
Mike & Alan's ancestors all hailed from the INGHAM & SMALLBURGH areas of Norfolk, which are very close to STALHAM.
Best of luck, you may find a ready-made tree!!!

Hi Joboy,
Many thanks for the information about Elizabeth FLOWERDAY.  I believe she was born in 1795 in Crostwight, Norfolk.  Unfortunately, I haven't, as yet, found a link between her and my FLOWERDAYs, but I'm sure there must be some sort of connection as Crostwight and Lessingham are both close to Stalham!
Chris.

Hi Holly,

Thanks for taking the trouble to contact Mike FLOWERDAY.  I'm sure there is a link here, as a lot of my FLOWERDAYs came from Ingham and Smallburgh.

I was passed some information put together by Alan FLOWERDAY some time ago.  However, I don't think I've been in contact with Mike before, and would be very interested in finding out how our trees are linked.  My 6x Great Grandfather, John FLOWERDEW, was born in Smallburgh around 1713.  He married my 6x Great Grandmother, Anne NICHOLS, there in 1736.

Many thanks again,
Chris.

Hi Chris
Unfortunately, although Mike did a little bit of research to help Alan several years ago, he says that he has neither the time nor the inclination to do anymore as he isn't really interested himself. That's why he passed Alan's details on for you.
Sorry, but we can't force him if he's not interested can we? It does seem as though there was a connection between his & Alan's families though so maybe you could go back to Alan for help.
All the best in your searching.
