Serjt. Thomas Currie, Mentioned in Despatches

2928441, Serjt. Thomas Smith Currie, 2 Cameron Highlanders was Mentioned in Despatches and Gazetted on 11 October 1945.

His daughter told me he was a POW, first with the Italians and then in Germany. Ancestry has POW information:

A few questions:
Could someone point me in the right direction for information re MID?
His daughter doesn't have his service record. Would it include information re MID?
Are WW2 War Diaries available and/or online, or is confidentiality an issue?

Yes the War Diaries are available at Kew but they are not digitised and so you will have to visit Kew or get them copied and sent to you.  The National Archives copying service is expensive and there are individuals who will do it for you much cheaper.

I've just checked and his MID doesn't survive at the National Archives. You may find some ref to it in the war diaries but it's unlikely.
