I don't have the marriage certificate for New Zealand only the index number and parties, it fits the information he gave at the Hay court. 

Rosjan ... now that Johnf04 has found the "missing bride", you won't of course need details - (and scant they would be) - from the 1876 NZ marriage record (VAUGHAN - WELTON).
Can tell you though, from another resource (index), that they married on 14 June 1876 at the Knox Presbyterian Church, Dunedin.  Both parties were of "full age".
[It would have been helpful too to know (because some of us like to check background information for these searches) that Benjamin WELTON had appeared and been sentenced in the Australian Courts, under the name of Benjamin WILTON.  ]
