Property Records for NSW.

I am looking for the Records of Deeds or Titles for a property in NSW, to ascertain if this was indeed the house of my forbears. I have been to the Land and Property Information site, but it is down for maintenance for the moment. Does anyone know if they hold records  there for the period 1918- 1970. From what I understand, they only have on-line searching from 1992. Is this correct? and if so, where do I look to get this information?

Since March 2006 access is electronic for all items entered in the General Register of Deeds since November 1992.

Already know the address

You can work backwards from the current title to the previous title, using LPI's approved information brokers.

You can also work forward from the first title. Early grant information and first title information is shown on a Parish or Town map, available in the Historical Land Records Viewer (HLRV).

You may also find some useful information in our Parish and historical maps and Public registers pages.

I have been able to access the site, but they hold no records between 1900 and 1950, the period I am interested in. Seems early records are there, and latest sales and titles back to the 1970's, but have had no luck in finding if my people inhabited a certain house around the 20's/30's.

1920-1930s

Have you tried the Sands Directories?

In previous years I have accessed some of the parish maps that were still being updated in the 1950s and 1960s but were originally drafted up in the 1910s and 1920s.

I know NSW government is 'privatising' much of the Land Titles Office functions, but you should be able to get somewhere if you know the Folio number etc and street address unless that has already been sold off.

From 1 July, customers who wish to purchase land title searches and related products online will need to use Land and Property Information’s (LPI) network of approved information brokers. These will no longer be available in the current SIX and Online Shop.
