The name Daisey

Would anyone know why a child and adult would be called Daisey, when their real name was Frances Marion, I cant why someone would be called that in 1886 and still known by that name and called by it  through the 1960's and up till she died in 1975.

Children are often given pet names, it is not unusual for them to continue throughout their life.

My mother's name was Alice but was nicknamed Babs, some family members continued calling her that when she was an adult, much to her disgust. Her brother also never managed to lose is nickname either.

I also know someone who never managed to lose her pet name of Pickle.

although not relevant in this case, Daisy was often a shortening of Margaret (from the flower Margurite - a type of daisy)

I thought that some families used to give nicknames to their children of which many stuck with them all of their lives,dont remember my family using nicknames  the only thing with my name it got lengthened instead of just plain June it was lengthened to JUNIE.
