there are two William humms in great Henny having children at the time.

There is a William humm junior (born 1784). He married an Elizabeth (will have a look for the marriage later). They had the following children: William 26/4/1807, Samuel 6/10/1811, james 21/11/1813, John 26/1/1816, George 6/9/1821

William humm senior (I think born 1763 to John and Elizabeth humm. This William was married to a Rebecca. They had children from 1784 to 1806.

Other humm family names are Sarah, Edward, Elizabeth, james, Susan, David. Do any of those appear in your Frederick's children or grandchildren's names?

William humm senior married Rebecca tuffen 1st December 1783 at great henny. John humm witness. Could have been his dad.
William humm junior married Elizabeth Rist in great henny 6/11/1806. Witnesses james and Elizabeth humm. James was William's brother (born 1769) and Elizabeth was either james's wife or james and William's sister (but she was born in 1759 and I would have thought she might hVe been married by then).

Agree. William senior looks right but wonder why Frederick's birth does not appear anywhere?
At the moment his first 43 years are a complete mystery. As he married a widow late in life I suspect he too must have been married before but again I can find no record of this.

I suspect William junior was frederick's dad, as he was still having children from 1807 to 1821, whereas the last child I found baptised to William senior was 1806, from 1784. I think that makes William senior, Frederick's grandfather. I'll look for a death for Elizabeth his wife. If it's before 1809, we'll know. It's still an assumption with no baptism, but be does consistently say he's born in henny and on his marriage it says his father is William?

cant find a baptism for an Emma smith in woodham Mortimer. Abraham smith has lots of children, but no Emma! I'm beginning to wonder if they were using their middle names??

I have Emma as being born in Maryland not Woodham Mortimer.
