I'm not sure if you have Margaret on the early censuses. I think this is most likely to be the family in 1841:

Thank you all - the maps are great. So interesting. So, does it look like Thomas Evans was married to Jane prior to Margaret Jones? Jane dies sometime between 1841 and 1851 and Thomas marries again? Catherine

I was in a bit of a rush when I posted the marriage of Thomas to Margaret and missed that he was a widower.

However, I don't believe he is the person in the 1841 census, which accounts for the age discrepency.
There were two marriages of a Thomas, shoemaker, to Jane. The first was to Jane Jones in 1840 and they had a son, Evan.

I believe this is his family in 1841:-
Cross Cottage, Llangwm, Corwen Union, Denbighshire
Thomas Evans 50 Shoemaker
Elinor Evans 50
Cadwalader Evans 15 Shoemaker
Cathrine Evans 13

Next door but 1 at Tynycelyn, Llangwm
Thomas Evans 20 Shoemaker

Marriage 5 November 1842 at Llangwm
Thomas Evans, shoemaker, son of Thomas, shoemaker
Jane Ellis, minor, of Tynygroes, daughter of Robert Ellis, dispensing minister.

I can't find any children or a death for Jane.
