Bearcub, if you're talking about a trip to Aylesbury to see Buckinghamshire PR's, are you aware that Milton Keynes Library has the Parish Registers and Wills on microfilm, if that's any easier?

Many thanks, that's useful to know. Unfortunately, I live in Bristol, so either way it's going to take a bit of planning!
I actually had some fantastic help from the Bucks FHS - For a very small fee they have done some searches for me and I have a lot of leads to follow up. I think, therefore that a visit to the Northants Records office might be needed too!

I've just checked the Aylesbury archives, Wills, database.

There are quite a few Wills for Brittain, (and variations of that surname).    The 'powerbase' seems to be around Olney, Sherington, Newport Pagnell, plus other places that may be of interest.

They may, or may or may not be of any use, but I thought I'd check before you go flying off to Bucks and Northants. ;D

Steve. :)
Ives, Stevens, Allen, Smith, King, Wooster, Elwood from Monks and Princes Risborough, Aylesbury, Wendover, Great Missenden, Bledlow, Horsenden, Saunderton, West Wycombe, High Wycombe, Lacey Green, Longwick, Illmer,  Hughenden, Prestwood, The Kimbles, Haslemere, Bradenham, Aston Clinton and more......!!  Plus a whole host of Oxfordshire areas.
Graham, Pimlott, Burgess from Cheshire and Lancashire area.
