Shipham Stocks

Hello there. I've recently been compiling a family tree, with current focus on my surname (Stock). I live in Newport Wales.

I've very recently (2 days ago!) uncovered my line hails from Shipham, Somerset.

I've gone as far back as Samuel Stock born abt 1802-5 who married Ann Hares and had son Samuel born 1825 whom married Caroline Crees (my ggg-grandparents) - They had 2 children born in Shipham and then moved to Newport Wales around 1845 and had more children here, the first in 1846 Eliza Ann.

I'm hoping some of you have further information regarding Samuel Stock's Sr parents, siblings, grand parents, cousins, etc and other stock family members to really open up my tree further.

I can provide information of my line up to me if needed.

Eventually I'll look into the Hares side and other family branches as well .

My gut tells me that your Samuel is the unnamed Child Baptised to SAMUEL/HANNAH Stock, 6 June 1802, St Leonard, Shipham.

Possible Marriage same Church Samuel STOCK to Hannah HILBORN 29 Sept 1782 (Bachelor/Spinster)
Their 1st Child was JOSEPH 1783/unnamed 1785/unnamed 1788
JOBE Stock 24 May 1806 to Saml/Hanah
(may be a late baptism as Burial has him as born c 1802/3ish)

HANNAH Stock 7 Aug 1800, Daug of Samuel/Hannah
SAMUEL Stock 29 March 1816 age 60 (birth c 1756)
JOB Stock 25 Jan 1815, age 13, Son of Saml/Hannah
HANNAH Stock, 29 July 1822 age 63 (birth c 1759)

You may get other opinions.

1841 John Hares and Family are living next door to Samuel/Ann in Shipham.
A John Hares was a Witness to Samuel/Anns 1825 Marriage
Also Charles HARES married Ann STOCK 12 Sept 1825 Shipham

I see ANNE Stock was buried 4 June 1844 Shipham age 39

Sorry I only found Hannahs 1800 Burial but not her Baptism to know dob.

Not necessarily her Baptism may have not been transcribed on on-line sources eg FreeREG yet.
